Ranthambore City


Situated near Sawai Madhopur, Ranthambhore is a well known destination in the state of Rajasthan, India. It is basically famous for its Ranthambhore National Park & Tiger Reserve. The place is also known for historical Ranthambhore Fort. The place is surrounded with rich flora and fauna. The major factor in tourism in Ranthambhore is its national park which enjoys exceptional flora and fauna.


Ranthambhore National Park: It is one of the largest Ranthambore National Parkand famous national parks in India. It is very close to Sawai Madhopur and about 130 km from Jaipur – the capital city of Rajasthan. The park is widely famous for its large tiger population. The park is considered as one of the finest tiger reserves in the country. Lakes, rivers, tigers and other wild animals with rich flora meet together and provide wonderful tourism opportunities in the park.

Tigers are relatively easier to spot in the Ranthambhore National Park than any other national parks & tiger reserves in the county. Other wild animal attraction in the park include leopards, jungle cats, jackals, sloth bears, marsh crocodiles, apes, spotted bears, stags, blue bulls, porcupines, hyenas, etc.

Bird attractions in the park include horned owls, spoonbills, quails, storks, owls, eagles, parakeets, geese, ducks, kingfisher, etc. Peacock (India’s National Bird) is the most visible bird in the park.
Ranthambhore fort: Perched atop a hill, it is also a famous attraction of Ranthambhore National Park. It is believed that this fort was built in 944 Ad by a Chauhan warrior. Beautifully carved the interiors of the fort are worth watching. Hamir Court inside the fort complex is also worth visiting.

By Road: Ranthambhore is well-connected by road transportation with all the major cities of Rajasthan.
