West India
Western part of India consists of famous states of Goa, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and some part of Rajasthan along with Daman and Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli. West India has some of most famous tourism destination and historical sites.
Culture of Western India:
Each state of western India has varied and distinct culture and tradition. Goa has Portuguese culture due to centuries of Portuguese rule. Goa is also known fro its breathtaking beaches and magnificent churches. The culture of Maharashtra is influenced deeply by the British colonial rule and the Marathi Empire. Maharashtrian culture is reflected through its forts, caves, palaces and rich history. Marathi literature and cinema are very popular in the state as well as across India. The culture of Gujarat is superb blend of Hindu, Jain and Muslim traditions. The culture of western India is also influenced with Bollywood. Bollywood – the biggest film industry of the country – is situated in Mumbai – the capital city of Maharashtra. Mumbai and Goa are also widely famous for their nightlife. Overall culture and traditions of western India is vibrant and rich.
Cuisine of Western India:
The cuisine of western India is diverse due to diverse culture and traditions. The cuisine of Goa is dominated by the use of cashewnuts, coconuts and sea foods. Feni (local wind) of Goa are very famous. The cuisine of Maharashtra is diverse. Pav Bhaji, Vada Pav, Shrikhand, Pohay, etc are good examples of Maharashtrian cuisine. The cuisine of Gujarat is predominantly vegetarian.
