It also boasts the world’s tallest statue, a symbol of unity, the coastal areas along the Arabian Sea, and much more.

When it comes to festivals, the celebrations of Makar Sankranti and Navratri in Gujarat are unparalleled. Gujarat is among those Indian states that have been involved in maritime trade for thousands of years.

It is said that Vasco da Gama did not discover India; rather, he reached here aboard the trading ship of a Gujarati merchant, Kanji Malam. This underscores India’s ancient trade relations with European, Middle Eastern, and African countries.

Best Places to Visit in Gujarat:

Statue of Unity: The 182-meter-high Statue of Unity is the tallest statue in the world. Built on the banks of the Narmada River, this statue is dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, famously known as the "Iron Man" during the Indian freedom movement.

It is one of the most unique and awe-inspiring attractions in Gujarat. The Statue of Unity is just 90 km from Vadodara and can be easily reached via road transport.

Narayan Sarovar: Located on the Arabian Sea's coast, Narayan Sarovar is one of the five sacred lakes of Hinduism, as mentioned in the Bhagavata Purana. This revered lake holds spiritual significance similar to Mansarovar in Tibet and Pushkar Sarovar in Rajasthan, making it a must-visit for spiritual seekers. Narayan Sarovar is about 160 km from Bhuj and can be easily accessed via public road transport or private vehicles.

Road to Heaven : Few places in India offer the kind of extraordinary and unimaginable natural views found here. This road stretches from Khavda to Dholavira in Gujarat’s Kutch district, bordered on both sides by shallow seawater and salt deserts.

On clear days, the reflection of the sky on the still water is breathtaking and almost unbelievable. To reach here, you must begin your journey from Bhuj.

Somnath: The first of the twelve Jyotirlingas, Somnath , is located on the Arabian Sea's coast. The history of Somnath is fascinating, with numerous tales of invasions that destroyed the temple and its reconstruction by local rulers. "Som" is synonymous with the moon.

According to Hindu mythology, the Somnath Shivling is self-manifested and appeared as a blessing from Lord Shiva to the moon god. Veraval railway station is the most convenient option for reaching Somnath.

Dwarka: One of the four sacred dhams in Hinduism, Dwarka is a 2,500-year-old temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Located on Gujarat's western coast, Dwarka was once a grand city established by Lord Krishna, which later submerged into the sea. Dwarka is a wonderful religious destination to visit during winters and monsoons.

Rani ki Vav & Modhera Sun Temple: Situated near Mehsana in northern Gujarat, the Modhera Sun Temple and Rani ki Vav showcase the glorious architectural heritage of ancient India. These structures stand as evidence of India's advanced knowledge in mathematics, science, and art long before the Mughal and British eras.

The Modhera Sun Temple was built by King Bhimdev I, and Rani ki Vav was constructed by his queen, Udaymati. Both are remarkable historical sites worth visiting.

Mandvi: Located on the western edge of Gujarat's Kutch district, the 450-year-old town of Mandvi is renowned for its pristine beaches. Mandvi is a serene and picturesque destination, perfect for dedicating an entire day during your Kutch visit.

If you love beaches, Mandvi is sure to captivate you. It is just 80 km from Bhuj, and buses are readily available for travel.

Saputara: Nestled on the border of Gujarat and Maharashtra, Saputara is a beautiful hill station located just 80 km from the Purna Wildlife Sanctuary. It’s an ideal destination for a family outing and can be easily reached via Surat, Vapi, Nashik, or Malegaon.
