Hemkund Sahib Trek

Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara: Snow-capped mountains, chilled breezes, and pure vibes are the main attractions of Hemkund Sahib. A holy lake is located just near the Gurudwara, which looks divine. Hemkund Sahib altitude is 4329m (14200 ft), thus it's a mesmerising places covered with snow. 

The valley is home to Brahm-Kamal, the state flower of Uttarakhand, which is sacred as per Sanatana scriptures. This place is also known as Lokpal, the place where Laxman, the younger brother of Lord Rama, meditated. A temple of Laxman is also there near the Gurudwara.

Laxman Temple: There is a very ancient temple of Lakshman ji near the Gurudwara which doubles the sanctity of this place. It is said that Lord Ram's younger brother Shri Lakshman ji had performed penance here for many years.

Valley of Flowers: Keep one extra day in hand to visit the most gorgeous place in the Garhwal region of the Himalayas. The Valley of Flowers is full of cascades, streams, birds, butterflies, vegetation, fauna-flora, and lush green mountains adorned with clouds. It is strongly recommended to leave Ghanghria early in the morning to explore the valley. One must have to return before 5 p.m. as per the regulations of authorities.

Govindghat Village: The high-altitude village is located at the confluence of the Alaknanda and Lakshman Ganga rivers. It is the starting point for the Valley of Flowers and Hemkund Sahib treks. One can explore traditional houses, food, and the Garhwali lifestyle in the village.

Badrinath: Being the one Dham among the main four, Badrinath is one of the most popular destinations in Uttarakhand. It also belongs to the mini Char Dham in Uttarakhand. One can either get a direct bus from Rishikesh or drive to the main temple. Situated on the shore of the Alaknanda River, the temple is only 25 km from Govind Ghat.

Joshimath: Whether you want to visit Badrinath, Auli, or the Hemkund Sahib or want to go ahead towards Niti and Bhavishya Badri, Joshimath is the gateway to all destinations. Joshimath is the high-altitude town and in trouble nowadays. 

The entire city is started sinking and is marked as a risky zone. Also known as Jyotirmath, the town is known for a few important places, such as Adi-Shankaracharya srhine, cable car to Auli, and more.

Trekking: The 6 km trek from Pulna offers incredible views of the constantly changing weather of the Himalayas. On the lap of nature, trekkers feel blessed with pure water, air, and soothing feed to the eyes. 

The entire valley gradually starts getting covered with dense forests. Rhododendrons add amazing colours to the valley, making it more appealing. The first stop is Bhyundar where after crossing Lakshman Ganga you move towards Ghanghariya.

Valley Exploration: Hemkund Sahib and Valley of Flowers are popular amongst trekking enthusiasts. From cascades to meadows and snow-capped hills to playing clouds, everything in the valley draws attention. 

The path from Pulna to Ghanghria and ahead towards Hemkund offers mesmerizing views including rivers, falls, giant mountains, dense forests, and more.

Bird Photography: The entire valley including Hemkund Sahib is a part of the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve, and the valley is home to various Himalayan birds. Yellow-bellied fantail flycatcher, orange-flanked bush ribbon, created black tit, Indian tree pipit, blue-fronted redstart, and many other birds can be easily spotted in the valley. However, it is recommended to carry a camera with a good focal length to capture birds.

Holy Dip in Hemkund Lake: This holy place is named Hemkund after this small pond which means a snowy lake. Tourists or devotees who offer prayers in the Gurudwara should take bath first in this chilly pond. Taking a dip in the pond creates a unique awakening and peace in you.
