Guide to Reach Moon Peak in Dhauladhar, Himachal Pradesh:

Mcleodganj Town and Triund Trek: Triund is the main route to reach Moon Peak. However, to reach Triund, you can choose either the Shiva Cafe near Bhagsu Nag Temple or the Gallu Devi Temple, both of which are popular routes. From Triund, you cross the snow line and reach Laka Glacier. You can camp for the first day near Lhesh Cave, which is located beyond Laka Glacier.

The next day, you need to start your journey early in the morning. This will allow you to cross the Inderhar Pass and reach Moon Peak, which is located near the Kundli Glacier. You must return from Moon Peak on the same day and camp near Lhesh Cave. The next day, you can easily return to McLeodganj via Triund.

Moon Peak Trek Itinerary:

Day 1: Reach McLeodganj and stay for one day for acclematization.

Day 2: Trek towards Triund and reach near Lahesh Cave; camp overnight.

Day 3: Reach moon peak via Indrahar Pass and return to Lahesh cave; camp overnight.

Day 4: Descend towards McLeodganj.

How to reach Mcleodganj: Pathankot serves as the nearest railway station, situated a mere 80 kilometers away from Dharamshala. From Pathankot, travelers can opt for HPSRTC buses or shared taxis, which typically cover the distance to Dharamshala in 3-4 hours.

By Air: The Kangra Airport, located just 18 kilometers from McLeodganj, offers convenient access to the region. To reach McLeodganj from the airport, travelers have the option to hire a private cab or utilize public transportation such as buses or shared taxis to reach the Dharamshala bus stand.

By Road: Delhi offers both ordinary and luxury bus services to Dharamshala, with travel times ranging from 8 to 9 hours. Additionally, travelers have the option to use a trolley or ropeway for transportation between the two locations, although the higher fare for this service may come as a surprise.
