Haji Ali Dargah: A Sacred Shrine Situated Amidst the Arabian Sea
In the western part of Mumbai, near the Mahalakshmi Temple and amidst the Arabian Sea, lies the Haji Ali Dargah, a place of great significance among Muslim devotees. The Haji Ali Dargah is often referred to as a miraculous shrine because it has withstood multiple tsunamis. A concrete path leads to the dargah, and during the day, the sea recedes from this path, only to submerge it again by evening.

The shrine of Pir Haji Ali Baba was originally built in the 15th century. However, the current structure was constructed in the 19th century by Haji Usman Ranjikar, who owned a pilgrimage ship.
The dargah, spread over an area of 4,500 square metres, features an 85-foot-high minaret that stands strong, enduring the salty sea winds for many years. Inside the mosque, there are white marble pillars inscribed with the name of Allah 99 times.
Haji Ali Bukhari came to India from Uzbekistan, where he spread Sufism. At the time of his death, he had returned to Mecca, and his body was sealed in a coffin and set afloat in the sea. It is said that his coffin drifted to Mumbai and came to rest on a rock near Worli. When the coffin was opened, it was found to be dry inside.

The Most Convenient Way to Reach Haji Ali Dargah, Mumbai:
Haji Ali Dargah is situated along the Arabian Sea on the western coast of Mumbai, close to the Mahalakshmi area. If you're travelling by local train, you can disembark at Mahalakshmi Station and reach the dargah on foot.
By Air: Fly to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai, and then take a taxi directly to Haji Ali Dargah Street. From there, it's just a short walk to the main dargah.
By Train: Book a train to Mumbai Central. From there, you can hire a taxi or auto rickshaw for the approximately 10-minute drive to Haji Ali Dargah.
By Local Train: If you're travelling from other stations in Mumbai, such as CST, Thane, Dadar, Borivali, Bandra Terminus, or Panvel, take a local train on the Western Line and get off at Mahalakshmi Station. From there, you can either walk or take an autorickshaw to Haji Ali Dargah.
By Bus: Several buses in Mumbai operate on the Western Line and stop at Vatsalabai Desai Chowk. From there, you can either walk to Haji Ali Dargah or hire an autorickshaw to reach the entrance.
